Yeah... i was like WTF too......
Friday afternoon, i got back to work, after i went to go pick up some parts....
but as i was pulling up into the drivway, i went to shift to second.... and all of a sudden, the shifter went loose..... i looked down.... and was like.... f***!!! I didnt know what happen at first, so i looked under there, and saw that the rod was more forward than usual.. so..
after about 20 mins, of struggling with the black cover box.... i got to the shifter.... took a look inside, and what do you know.... it broke!!!
it looked like it had been loose for a awhile, and that i guess from over time, it just finnaly gave out... you know, like when you keep bending metal back and forth, it finally breaks....
anyways... i welded it back together. it broke right in the middle, were it comes down to make the hole for the shifter.... like this, i guess... --**_ with the ** being the piece that comes down.. (side view)
And to mak matters worse, our spring run was the next day. and we were having a BBQ that night.... well i ended up leaving work at, 6:20 or so and made it to the hotel in austin, at 7:15..... not to bad...
But, i made it though..... and did i have a blast!!!!
its one thing to ride shotgun with someone, but when your drivivng it is very very very excititng/fun/and alot more too.....
the old taur did really well... better than i expected.... actually the first part i was driving behind Tony, and out of the turns, i could keep up with him, through second gear. But after that, the extra 200hp kinda kicked in.... but i actually did hang in there... and yes he was on it....
anyways, the roads were very fun to run on... allthough there were alot of hairpin turns, and really no way to tell whats around the corner, due to thick trees, and brush.... but we rarely slowed down to 30mph.... and that was on turns that were rated at 15mph...
most the time we hung right in around 60-70 through the twisties, and when we get some straights, it was up to 110...... Another thing that was cool, but kinda "scared" me was the dips that we were going through. when you got to the bottom of them, at 70mph, or more, the G-forces just took over... i think we had to be pulling atleast 2-3 maybe even 4 g's on some of the dips... what scared me was that i kept on getting lightheaded when i dropped into the ditch, and coming out of it. All your blood would rush from your head, and you would be like....
What scared me though was, if i hit one of the bottoms top fast, and push too many g's, and black out.... the only place you would be going is of the road, and being that were we were at, that would mean, either, off the side of a "cliff/hill" down to the lake, or just straight into the trees.... either one would be bad... very bad....
but none of that happened...
We did have a couple sho problems... one was mine, while we were out drag racing on a back road.... the DIS took a dump on me... and wasnt running right... i had a miss all the way back to Austin.... which wasnt fun... i still had power... probably about 100 hp.... it really wasnt fun....
Then, Tony had some major problems, but it wasnt on the actuall run itself... it was on the way to dinner tonight. I wont go into detail, as he was very upset, and ******. But he had trans problems... and no it wasnt 3rd gear....
But other then that, it was very fun. I brought along my camera, but i totally forgot that i had it mounted in the headrest... and i wasnt about to reach over and turn the thing on while in the twisties...
Anyways. I thought i share our fordbastards Spring run... and sho yall how us tejas boys do it!!!!!
