Doesn't anyone here tow with their SHO or have a hitch on it. I plan on putting a hitch on to put a bike rack on and to tow a small trailer with a utility quad on it. I just don't know how the car would look with a hitch on it.

Just be careful if you're under warranty. Owners manual state's that the SHO is not rated to tow any amount of weight. I know that's silly because it is definitely capable, but if any problems result from it, I wouldn't want Ford to try to blame towing as an issue and not cover a repair.

Might be that a weight distributing hitch is required to work properly, but then the manual should have said that ...?

Unless I missed it.. I wish it did, I could definitely benefit from the added utility of a hitch.

It isn't tow rated because they never tested it. That is the only reason.

Should add I towed an older 17 ft bass/ski boat with it and had zero issues.

I had one on my '10 and it towed a 12' U-Haul with about 800 lbs of stuff in it ( so total weight 1600lbs?) very well on a trip from Alabama to Massachusetts. The car behaved as if the trailer wasn't even there.

It didn't look great, but not too ugly either. Tucked up under the license plate pretty close, so not too bad.

I think I've shared this photo before, from a RV magazine a few years ago. Seems I remember the article said this was taken in Canada.

You can have a hitch, but remember Sho is not really rated for towing.

I've purchased from them before, never had a problem. The last hitch I put on was for my Volvo XC90 V8 - perfect fit & easy install.

I don't like how this one relocates/replaces the back muffler hanger. It looks like the tips sit about an inch lower & aren't nested in the bumper cutouts like they should be. I was all for a hitch too until I saw that.

Excerpt from one of the Q&A posts for that hitch:

"I called my contact at Curt and they said the exhaust could potentially hang about an inch lower due to the hitch installation."

THANKS for pointing that out, spdfrk. I noticed that the video segment where they re-hung the exhaust after installing the hitch was conspicuously absent. I was kinda looking fwd. to seeing how they did it. Yeah, deal-breaker for sure. I did see that one of the commenters who gave the hitch 5 stars was a SHO owner, FWIW.

No doubt the hitch would work just fine. If I "had to have" a hitch on the SHO, it probably wouldn't be too hard to modify the exhaust hangers to make the tips sit right. Still, a little disappointing Curt didn't spend a few more hours engineering a better solution...

I have a Hidden Hitch on my 2011 SHO that I bought from eTrailer. It didn't require any modifications to the exhaust and fits fit. I have only used it with a bike rack. It was an easy installation - I did it by myself from a creeper with the car on jack stands. No drilling was required. Here's the only photo I currently have uploaded to a sharing site.
