Sometime Thursday night my SHO (green ATX) was hit and run while parked in front of my house by the corner Eastern and Hancock. I used to park it in the grass, but I got a ticket for "Parking on the Parkway", so now I park it in the road (Hancock). Anyways they hit it hard and the cosmetic damage is undeniable. It was a GM vehicle as far as I can tell from the part number found on a 3/4" x 4" amber light of some kind (1996-16522615, LH).

I thought it was just going to be one more dent to pop out from this crappy neighborhood (and replace the turn signal etc); the suspension seemed alright. I swept the road in front of it a little to avoid further damage to my tires (there were a LOT of broken headlight pieces from the other car), and began to roll it forward so I could see if there were fluids leaking underneath it. Almost instantaneously there was a loud POP followed by the front left corner of the car dropping to the ground. Further investigation revealed that the metal edge of the wheel well is now resting on the edge of the tire. Pictures to follow.

So depending on how the thing looks when I get it in the air, I may be needing suspension parts.

Thanks. That's what the Chevy dealer in town told me too. I am pretty sure it was a dark red color because I saw some red in the scrapings, and there is some red touch-up paint on a plastic clip I found on the scene.

PS I forgot to mention this, but I have PLPD insurance, so they laughed at me on the phone and advised me not to report it to them. The police came 45 mins after I called them to give me a "Yep, that sucks." and be on their way.

How is the suspension on that one? The rear suspension is trashed too, just from being old and driven on crappy roads and railroad tracks.

Yeah the rear suspension is trashed from wear and the front left is broken from being rammed into by stupid people. I'm gonna jack it up today and see what exactly is broken. I'm pretty sure I see a power steering fluid leak in that corner too. Note the picture in the wheel well.

Wow... I still maintain that life would be so much easier without people... Remind me to stay away from the SE side! That really sucks.

UPDATE: We took off the wheel today. The strut itself was bent and knocked completely out of the wheel. The fluid that leaked out appears to be from the strut.

Dont think of it as damaged parts... Think of it as a free lowering kit!

Just kidding man. Really sucks that there are people out there like that. My Mustang requires 2 new bumpers, passenger side door, right front headlight, and many small paint touch ups thanks to living in an apt complex for a little over a year. Shit ****** me off every day i look at it!

Got the strut and spring assembly off of a 95 Mercury Sable at U-Wrench-It for $27. As soon as I put the new ($7) side light fixture on, it'll be happy again. Well, happyish... it's now bashed in on 2 corners. :S

Driving my friend's Volvo 740 for the last week (odometer stopped at 237000 miles like a year ago) has really made me appreciate my SHO...
