I just replaced the clutch, flywheel, trans. also I put a completley different upper intake on the car, TB, IAC and all. now when i start the car it idles somewhere around 2k, will go down to about 1500 but this is still pretty high. sound like and IAC or TPS prob with the new intake? maybe I should swap out the IAC for the one off my old intake. whats an easy way to get this off with out taking off the intake? that bottom screw looks difficlut to reach. there is no other prblems with the engine, it dosent shudder or die it just idles high.

Make certain the throttle plate is completely closing with no pressure on the throttle. An improperly connected throttle cable or other mechanical fault may be making it hang partially open.

If it's okay, make certain your TPS is installed correctly and is adjusted properly.

Check for vacuum leaks.

Removal of the lower IAC screw requires a long-arm 5 mm Allen and some patience. I always notch the IAC mounting body at the lower hole when removed to make it a "loosen, slide off/on, retighten" proposition in the future. In any event, disconnect the electrical connector, remove the upper screw, loosen the lower screw slightly, tilt IAC rearward, then remove the bottom screw taking advantage of the increased access afforded by tilting the IAC rearward.

would a vacuum leak from the lower intake gaskets cause that? I thought that would cause it to run poorly.

Any vacuum leak has the potential to raise the idle speed.

I noticed something else the other day, it idles high around 1800 or so in neutral, then it will slowly come down to about 1200 even 1000 sometimes. well if i push the clutch in it will fluctuate between 1200 and 1800 a few times and then settle down to about 1000. i had a new clutch and different trans installed does, this sound like a problem with the trans? it is also very difficult for me to shift into most gears without grinding, i literally have to slam it into gear. the clutch cable seems to be adjusted properly, i lifted up on it and i also tried to adjust the blue quadrant manually, it seems to be as far as its going to go. I also replaced the throwout fork so I know its not bent. any help would be great, this is my daily driver.
