Help! Stupid rear endlink

Ok so I finally got the old rear endlink off, that was fun to say the least figuring the bottom half of the old endlink had gone missing, bushings and all.. not to mention the fact you can't fit anything in there to get the top bolt!

In order to get the swaybar to drop enough to get the old endlink out I removed the bolt that holds the swaybar bushing on, seemed simple enough..

But here comes the problem, once that new endlink gets put in, its impossible to get that swaybar bushing back in the hole and then push it back up so it can be screwed back in.

So what the **** am I supposed to do? I gave up for the night as I'm exhausted from being the police academy all day and this all night. I obviously have to reinstall the swaybar bushing back first, but then how can I lower the actual swaybar enough to get the endlink to drop back in the hole then?

I tried pushing down on the swaybar, not much luck there. I don't even want to mess with the strut (I assume I could try to slide the knuckle down on the strut and make more room)

Maybe I'm tired and just missing something, but this sure seemed like an easy job.

I have to have this done by 2pm tommorow so I can get to work because my car is in the shop.

So please anyhelp in detail would be GREATLY appreciated at this point!

Jay, when I installed my 26mm rear, I loosely connected the endlinks and had to push like a **** to get that bolt in and it did take some time.

Agree'd though, its a ***** but it can happen. Took me ~20 minutes under the car to get the bolt started enough to crank down on it without stripping.

Even with them loosely installed or not installed at all (the endlinks) I can not get the rubber to bend enough to be able to stay in the damn slot and be able to screw it back in.

I should have just taken it in, maybe I'll take a cab to work, :nut:

Jason, sorry I missed your IM.

Just resecure the bushing brackets without the endlinks attached, then use a jack to raise each spindle (jack right under the eyelet for the radius arm) until the end of the endlink will go in the sway bar (don't forget the washer and bushing!).

Once one link is in, don't install the lower bushing, washer and nut until you get the other side in.

Hope that helps!

EDIT: P.S. Porkchop sorry I missed your IM too.

Thank you! :hail: Worked perfectly.

I knew there was a simple solution and I was just to frustrated/tired to see it.
