So I have been zipping around this forum lately, reading up doing slight research. I used to be into turbo cars say 4-5 years ago. But I am very far out of that scene now. How ever Im THINKING of doing the SHO up remote turbo style.

What I'm thinking

Holset HX-35
Small SMIC ( going to run around 8psi)
Tial External WG
1g DSM BOV
Tweecer to control it all
Misc. Lines and fittings as I go.

obv. All the ICP will be custom made.

I have a question or two . I have a Pro-M 80MM MAF will this work with a turbo set up? If kept in the stock spot on the ICP to the intake? OR would it be better on the ICP to the turbo? OR will this not work at all and I should sell it and get a differnt one. IF so what one?
Now thats just a short list as you can tell its 3am and I just wanted to get this up here. What elcse could you turbo gods suggest?:hail:

Thanks in advance. Sorry for any errors, it's way to late and i need sleep.

Al

Allen just do a read up on the Remote set up on here, once you get a clear idea who the oil lines, and such goes im sure anything can be hacked together..

I hope that is not a hack comment towards me... ;)

Seriously though, custom piping, turbo, wastegate, bov, oil lines, a tweecer and a different maf, and you should be good. Other than fuel system of course. that maf can not be used as far as I know.

Depending on how much HP you want, the injectors will need upping and a new fuel pressure regulator and I would suggest converting the SHO's single pass fuel rail into a dual pass. The 80 mm MAF shouls be sufficient. I would stick it on the suck side of the turbo.

if you have a MTX just mount the turbo above the transmission near where the stock airbox goes. they fit there you know. :) or you could go in the RF fender like I did. i'm not so sure the 3" downpipe would clear between your axle and crank pulley on a MTX though. you would have to look.

I plan on a bigger fuel pump. But will probably run stock injectors/fuel rail/ for now. Til some time next yr. to get more power.

Suck side of Turbo. and the 80 MM is good...? thats good to know :thumb:

Im trying not to modify teh stock exhuast to much.re-routing it up-wards then back down. Im not to sure I want to go threw THAT much. Remote seems easier done. And easier to do 99% on my own. Because I dont have a Shop so some things needed it will be going to a SHOp for.

another place to mount the turbo is off the end off teh stock y pipe, basicly between the driver and passanger

its just like a rear mount setup, just not as rearward

and not as much oil line needed

and not as much intercooler piping needed

and not as much heatwrap needed to keep the heat in the pipe (if the exhaust cools down, you loose pressure, which means you loose boost)

and not as many place for leaks ...

heatwrap is not a neccesity, but it would be nice if I had some on my car... also, look into aluminum piping for the charge pipes.

I think heatwrap is awesome looking, it makes the car look more racey.

thats actually exactly where I was thinking of mounting the turbo. Glad to know it will fit there. It's winter and I dont feel like laying on the ground to get under my car so I havnt looked for a *spot* yet but thats exactly where I was thinking! Glad to know it fits there :thumb:
I already have the boost gauge. voltage gauge to make sure enough voltage is at the pump at all times.. going to rewire the fuel pump. new fuel lines. bigger pump. And maybe some 3.2 Injectors for now. More things keep getting put on the list.
