So my buddy bought a 92-93 green MTX and loves it to death.

He said it started right up, and now it wont start. Cranks over but wont start. I had him pull the codes, and heres what we got:

172 (R,M) Oxygen sensor not switching - system is or was lean - Single, Right orr Rear HO2S - Fuel control

176 (M) Oxygen sensor not switching - system is or was lean Left or Front HO22SSS - Fuel control

212 (M) Ignition TACH signal was erratic (module/wiring) or SPOUT circuit fault - Ignition Systems

216 (M) Primary circuit failure - ignition coil 2 - Ignition Systems

542 (O,M) Fuel pump open, bad ground or always on - - Power / Fuel Pump Circuits

To be honest i have no idea what these mean. At first sounds like maybe a spark problem? (erractic tach signal, circuit failure ignition coil 2)

But whats with the fuel pump code? I'm sure he'd appreciate any help he can get, he knows automotive basics but thats about it.

Might be a bad DIS. I got similar codes when my DIS went.

Also looks like the O2s need to be replaced.

LoudSHO, I got those codes (O2 sensors) when my MAF was bad. They're just reporting their condition, and that is that the cylinder banks are running lean (which is of course because they aren't running at all)

Brett, is there fuel pressure at the rails when you just put it in accessory mode?

Its really hard for me to say as im in MN and my bestfriend lives in AZ. The DIS is an easy one and i'll probably have him start there as it can be had in junkyards and is quick to swap. As for the MAF, would that cause a no start? I mean they'll run not plugged in at all, so wouldnt it still run? Yes i believe hes in need of some o2 sensors. I will have him check fuel pressure as well. Thanks for the ideas guys.

Just wanted to post for future reference in search. It was the DIS that was bad. Trip to the junkyard fixed that. Thanks loudsho :salute:
