i recently posted on here saying that my rpm gauge was at 0 and that the car was stalling and sometimes not starting and it had a check engine light!!
well i pulled the codes and it was 558!!!
558 with my scanner is the EGR Valve Regulator (EVR) Solenoid-circuit failure!!
but now what do i do?
I do not even know what this part is ?
where this part is in the engine!!?

Back in Michigan ... again.
First of all, calm down. It's not kosher to make multiple posts for one problem so please, just stick to this thread now that you've started it.

558 could suggest a problem with the DPFE sensor; it's the rectangular-looking thing mounted on the back of the intake manifold on the driver side near the firewall. A malfunctioning DPFE (also sometimes called PFE) could cause idling problems as you described. However, it doesn't account for your tach reading 0. That usually points to an issue with the crank or cam sensor.

Was 558 the only code you had? Were there any codes stored in memory?

558 was the only code that came up!!!

Sounds like the CPS is bad.

How many miles are on your car?

Do you know if any of the 60K mile tune-ups have been done?

Well, if you're not sure they were done, I'd do the front 60K (which replaces the CPS) and go from there. It'll have to be done anyway.

A failing CPS should definitely set a code.

You said you used a code reader, correct? I'd pull codes again, but don't use your code reader. Sometimes they don't spit out the correct information, and if your car has stalled there definitely should be more than just a 558 in memory.

Follow this procedure for the codes:

http://www.shophoenixproject.com/eec/eec.htm

Symptoms can suggest a bad CPS, but that's a LOT of work to get in there and replace without knowing for sure, and like I said, CPS failures almost always set a code in memory, and I suspect your code reader only told you the on-demand codes, not memory.
