ok so today i drove around town a bit to warm up my sho and i decided to go pick up my friend. so park in his driveway and turn off my car while i wait for him. then when he came out and i started up my car, it started rumbling, rattling, and shaking and the rpm needle was jumping up and down pretty fast.... i have no clue why it did that. it's been doing this all day and i need your guys' help diagnosing what might be wrong with my sho. thanks in advance.

check you battery terminals, then check your alternator output cable, the 10mm nut on the back of the alt, make sure its tight.
take the batt terminals off and clean them, are your cables old?
if you can check your eec system that will send you in the right direction

There are many things that can cause your problem. Pull your codes. Post them here if you need to and we will help you figure out what they are, or give you a link you can use to get them yourself. Even if there are no codes, that will also help us help you figure out what is wrong.

Since stuff for this car is so expensive, you really need to know what is wrong before you just start replacing stuff. Trust me, I did it the other way, and ended up spending $400 and three whole Saturdays of labor for what turned out to be a clogged fuel filter.

Most parts stores will check your codes for free.

Have them tell you the code numbers because alot of times their definition is different than what it really is.

BUT the idle air control valve(IAC), or the idle air bypass valve (IAB) both the same thing sounds like what the problem is. It's about $100.00 and it's located on the opposite side Throttle Body.
