Car (94 Sho automatic) had been running fine. Yesterday got in to go somewhere and the shift lever was frozen in park. The dealership told me about a work around; turn the key until just before the "on" position and the shift lever will unlock, I can then move it to "N" and start the car and it will then drive fine. So it's not a mechanical or linkage problem. Any ideas where to look to solve the electrical side of this problem?

your cruise control went bad, just unplug the box under the hood (big flat connector) to get by.

you can use a key trick by putting it in the acc/run position to get the car into neutral, then you can start it.

Thanks

After doing some more toubleshooting, I realized that the brake lights weren't working either. Turns out one of the wires going to the brake switch had broken. Once repaired, everything works fine. I appreciate all of the ideas.
