I have a 95’ ATX with the ABS light on. I pulled the codes and this is what I got:

31
35
36
41
42
43
44
55
61
62
64
75

I checked the codes through the sticky on this section’s main page and found out that most of the codes are for sensors. This light has been on for about 2 years now. I replaced the rotors and pads shortly after I bought the car and that’s when the light came on so I figured I busted a sensor or something. I didn’t really care about ABS so I never looked into it.

About a year ago I noticed the red brake light would come on and then turn off after a while. Then it would come on as I started to accelerate, but would “fade” out once I got to a steady speed. This seemed like a low fluid symptom but level was full and fluid was new.

It was about this time when I started to have issues with my ABS kicking in very aggressively when I applied the brakes. I would start to apply light pressure to begin a “normal driving condition” de-acceleration. Once I got under 20 MPH, I would apply a little more pressure to slow down and the ABS would pump the brakes so fast I actually couldn’t stop. The pedal is stiff like it would be when ABS kicks in but after a few seconds of this, it will stop fighting with me and then stop with a jerking motion.

I have another car (93’ ATX) that I can use for parts. It doesn’t have any ABS problems so I’m hoping I just need to swap parts out or something. Any suggestions?

It's probably ABS computer. Swap it out if you have an extra one.

replaced it and light was still on. Pulled codes and got one: 31 (LH front sensor)

Should I just take the LH front sensor off of my parts car (I know all sensors are good) and that should fix my problem?

It should, but also make sure the ABS ring on the C/V shaft is not broken as this could cause the same thing.

toothed ring is ABS ring. I think your sensor is shot. Good luck getting the sensor off of the parts car. You will be most likely ruin the sensor in the process of getting it out of knuckle.

I might as well try taking it off my parts car. It is only a parts car... who cares if it breaks. At least I tried...
