hey guys i removed my heater core lines awile ago because i could smell leak it was working just fine but i kept having to top off my coolent every few days, but i couldnt see it and im in fl so it was ok. so i finally decided to reconnect it, it was like 23 last night here. so i hook it up rev the motor some letting coolant fill core, so far so good i kept topping off fluid until it was ok then i turned on heater floor vent first. i got alot of smoke figures lol.. ran it for a few min it quit smoking then ran defrost all is ok no smoke fluid level is good to.. so my question is it was not smoking the first time i removed it just coolent smell should i expect it to leak still and will it start smoking since it had not before. im going to replace it soon i just need this for a few days thanks guys.

Heater core probems are serious. You get the fog on the window hard to see out the windshield, no? Then It starts using coolant. Well, where is the coolant going? There are many sources that can leak in addition to the heater core. But.. the coolant may be going right underneath the carpet. So you bypassed the heatecore. If its the heater core this will solve the problem. The problem is ... you need a heater core. Good luck. This will cost you.

Yo. Hey guys I removed my heater core lines a while ago because I could smell it leaking. It was working just fine but I kept having to top off my coolant every few days. I couldn't see it and I'm in FL so it was ok. So I finally decided to reconnect it. It was like 23 here last night. So i hook it up, rev up the motor, letting some coolant fill the core, so far so good. I kept topping off the fluid until it was ok, then I turned the heater floor vent first. I got a lot of smoke, LAUGH OUT LOUD. I then ran it for a few minutes, it quit smoking, then I ran the defrost. Everything is ok, no smoke or anything, fluid level is good too. So my question is that it was not smoking the first time I removed it it had just coolant smell. Should I expect it to leak still, and will it start smoking since it had not before? I'm going to replace it soon, I just need this for a few days, thanks guys.
