Does anyone else have problems on Gen III with the headlights being scratched to the point that the lights seem really dim? Is there an easy fix? The only fix I found in the forum said that it would take 6 hours per side.

Be careful of brand, though. I have TYC brand (supposed to be the better brand), and even they don't look as good or have as good a light pattern as OE.

I bought one from an LKQ auction and the headlight was brand new in appearance. Factory Ford too..

I just took industrial application scratch remover to my headlight lenses. One of those 3 step things with differing grades of compound. I did it by hand in about an hour, making them quite new looking again. You could probably do it both faster and better with an electric buffer, but I did not feel like hauling one out.

Oh, the 3 step kit was maybe $10 and I used perhaps 1/3 of the total material in each bottle, so a $3 fix or so.

For sure the OEM ones are the best. But Direct Auto will guarantee the ones they sell for a life time, fading and scratches included. You have of course upgraded the wire harness to a dual relay system like the APC brand from Jegs.com and using Silverstar Ultras....

Have you looked at the factory wires running to the headlights?

It's on my list of to-do's in the spring.

An upgraded wiring harness is a big plus. I know Paul likes the APC harness from Jegs, but I have one from suvlights.com and I personally think it's a more stout kit. It is about twice the price, though. One side bonus is that the headlight switch doesn't get nearly as hot with the harness, and you can tap into the low beams for a fog light relay without fear of reducing headlight output.
