Has anyone installed a DD (Double DIN) sized receiver in the space where the CD and Tape deck are? I know the front face shouldn't be too hard to modify, but I'm not sure about inside the dash. If you have, do you have any pictures?

Thanks

well din and a half, hehe i installed a mach audio unit in my 91 mocha. not too many problems. theres plenty of room behind it.

you'll have to modify where the radio and cd player go now, cutting out the center "clip" between them. with a full double din unit there shouldn't be much of a space above or below the unit. on mine being the ford 1 1/2 din size i had to use a blank plate to hide the hole.
if your consern is space, there is plenty.

Thanks, I figured there should be enough space in there but wanted to verify. The railing that holds the CD player up was my concern. As far as the face of the unit, I wanted it to fit completely in the two openings in there now.

I'm making my wish list and didn't want to put this on there unless it was realistic. :thumb:

Thanks,
Chris

Hey,thanks Mario, I'm surprised I didn't see this thread. I had my stereo stolen back in 02 and I found a Focus Blaupunkt. Wasn't sure it would work and after some very lengthy searching(a couple of months), finally found the connectors I needed. It's been a great STOCK substitute for the last few years with no problems what so ever. The ONLY thing I don't like about it, is that neither Ford nor Blaupunkt saw fit to make the SUB out functional, using a line out IS the only way. Any way so far my reasoning behind using a stock LOOKING head unit to deter theft has worked great. Here's some pics.

i supose i should post mine as well to give you an idea. though with a true double din there would only be very small gap above or below the unit. with the one above and mine they are the din and a half that are in most newer fords.

anywhoo on to the pics.

I am looking at doing the same thing with the pioneer dvd nav unit. Please post pics when you have yours installed.

Those are some great pics. Thanks for posting them. Once I have the money to put into a 7" DVD unit with navigation, I'm going to give it a try. Seeing what a larger unit looks like, I know I'm not wasting my time.

OK, this is not a real photo... BUT this is what it would look like with a DD DVD unit with Nav installed in the two stereo openings. I photoshoped a Pioneer unit into my 94 Mocca. I have to admit, it looks pretty nice! :naughty: If you have the money, go for it!
