Working on 92 sho putting in the dash and new harness, I'm having a little trouble locating where one of the plugs goes.... I'll try and describe it, if you know the pig tail you'll probably know what I'm talking about

Alright there's a pigtail that attaches on the steering wheel side you can completely detach it from the main harness. It has 2 relay's on the end of it and it looks to me like 1 of the plugs goes to the auto lamp switch/adjustment, it plugs in just fine and I can't find anything else to go there.
But.... there's a gray plug in the midst of the little pig tail that I can't seem to find a rhyme or reason to finding where it goes any help would be appreciated.

Well I got everything else hooked up, and as far as I can tell after starting the car everything else seems to work.

I looked at the old harness, that particular plug is cut off the old harness. I didn't cut any plugs off it, I just cut the main harness going out the firewall just so I could get the dash out so maybe that's one of the plugs that goes to the deck I don't know....

Is it down by your dimmer switch? There should be 2 plugs that plug into that. A gray plug and a black plug, and also a blue wire with a little bulb on the end of it.

1 of the plugs from the pig tail goes to the autolamp switch.... another plug goes into the dimmer. I have both those and the bulb plugged in
Maybe tomorrow in the light I'll take a few pictures of it..... see if that'll help

I just had a thought.... I don't have the volume control switch on the dash wired into anything I wonder if maybe one of the plugs goes there, and I got that one switched around
I haven't stuck the intrustment cover jigger on yet cause I can't find the damn nut for my headlight switch
But I don't have the end of that it would plug into, could anyone tell me if the plug going to the volume control is gray? And if it's about 1 1/2"-2" wide? only 2 rows deep I believe it's pretty thin

That plug almost sounds like your defroster plug for the defrost switch. Your volume control plug is black/red.

Did you pay any attention to any of the plugs as you un-plugged them or did you just go ape nuts and just start pulling plugs not knowing what you were pulling? After pulling 4 dashes, every plug has it's own plug it goes into. I don't know of any plug that can be mistakenly plugged into the wrong place.

Granted, I'll give you the fact it can be intimidating to pull a dash harness, but you have to pay attention and label stuff, as well as keep track of it as you are taking it apart.

ya I think I got a little happy, but I think I just mixed up a few thing.... I think I put the black and red one for the defroster.... and that gray one probably goes to the defroster

thanks a ton for all the help, I think I got it now...

This project extended over a long period and my memory isn't so hot, probably should've labled but I didn't feel it would do a lot of good since I was replacing the harness, it most other cases I've had that would've been true
It went rather well minus a few little quirks here and there.

I was walking over t shut off the red light on my miter saw, walked by the old harness, saw a gray plug connected to something with the wires cut. This would be the plug I can't find now off the old harness... With the sensor still attached.
This is the piece I was also looking for in another post. Since the other plug goes to the auto lamp I would guess this is the sensor for the very same thing. Makes me super happy that I've located this. Thank you to all attempting to help.
