So my buddy has a '95 ATX. If the car it totally cold (say from sitting overnight) it takes REALLY long to start, if you hold it. If you let go and go to crank again it fires right up.

Has a new crank and cam sensor. I am thinking it MIGHT be the fuel pump. I was wondering if you guys would have any help.

The fuel pump is probably going out. if you can check the pressure and see how quick the pressure lets off. if it drops at a steady rate then replace the fuel pump.

It's the check valve in the fuel pump. New pump and filter is in order. Less than a $100 and your on your way.;)

If its just the check valve, you can cycle the key to 'on' a couple of times (before cranking it) and that will allow the pump to build pressure. This may work indefinitely and save you the $100 for poker or whatever.

If it cranks but will not start at all until you release and try again, then that is a symptom of a bad cam sensor or associated wiring. Since that's been changed, it's more likely fuel, but I thought I would mention it because it could possibly still be an issue.
