Some times my car cranks for a long time. As I crank it chugs faster and faster until it finaly starts. It also idles rough when I first start it then it smooths out. I'm thinking my fuel pump is going out

Fuel pump has an anti-backflow valve on it. Valve often goes bad and releases fuel back to tank.

Try turning the key "on" but don't crank. You should hear the fuel pump run for a few seconds. Do this a couple times. THEN try to start the car.

This action refills the fuel lines when a anti-backflow valve leaks back to the tank.

Those 255s might be too much pump. I never went over 190 and usually stuck with the 155s in the Walbro family brand
