getting hard to shift

Well, now along with the gritty feeling clutch action, my 95 MTX seems harder to shift. It always goes into gear but it's very notchy getting into the next gear, almost like a snagging feeling. Does this sound like a major problem. Also, how can I check the gear oil. What's the best way to add oil? OR is this in some way related to the clutch feeling gritty sometimes?

it might be clutch time! how many miles are on yours. also, how often do you change the tranny fluid. just because it is a sealed cse DOES NOT mean you never have to change it.

Hmmm. Tried Metamucil?

Seriously, my 95 MTX grinds going into 2nd, but the other gears are ok. I've been told it may be low fluid. I'm pretty sure it's up there, as we recently did a flush. Gotta check to see if Merks actually ever did the drain plug though.

If I remember correctly, the fill level is even with the bottom of the fill plug threads on a level surface. Check SHOTimes.

try adjusting the clutch. it says how in your manual.... i found it helped when mine got a bit finicky

Okay, I read the article on sychronizers on the "How Stuff Works" site, so I know what the grinding is. Just thought I'd chime in, since I haven't made any useless posts lately and I'm overdue
