Im curious to see how these work out too... I need a set of tires soon but i am not wanting to spend over 400 for a set. I had a set of Fuzion ZRi but they did not last but a few months for me. The front tires went out just as quick as the rear did in my Mustang.

Junk.

I know my tires. It my Job. Im a Manager at NTB which is Big-O tires, Tire kingdom, carrol tires, which all you you probably have seen.

They might perform well for a little while but thier ****** multi-compound construction blows. You'll get good traction until you wear it into its garbage hard compound.

I work in tires too, and I'll agree to an extent with the above posted comment by LeddZepp8687. the tires are not as bad as he makes it seem to be, but they are not great. They will do good till they wear out, but they are not the greatest tire for the money.

This I do not agree with at all. Michelin's greatest performance tire is no where near as good as other companies greatest performance tire. When we are talking about smoothest/quietest, best all around tire, yea that's right for the most part. When talking all out performance, other companies **** michelins. Pilot sport cups are the best michelin makes, and I'd take a set of Avon Tech R A's way before the michelins for DOT legal track tires. the BFGoodrich g-Force R1's, Hoosier A6's and R6's are also way better. Michelin is a good brand, I will agree with that. I'm not going to even touch the rest of the list because you kind of got the point I'm trying to make. The best tire made is determined by personal preferance and driving style/habits, not by a salesman.

On a side note, for tires on a truck that will be seeing street duty for the most part(towing or not) The Michelin LTX's are awesome... ;)

I'm not trying to open a can of worms here, just stating my opinion on the matter.

That was not my calassification for performance tires. Thats my rating to tires that keep the SAME traction all the way thourgh. Michelins and Yokos are really the only tires that keep thier same compound all the way through.

For performance it really depends. I am very fond goodyear's performance line. Kumhos are good as well.

And LTX M/Ss are wonderful truck tires. Corssterrains are wimpy LTX A/Ss are good for a little bit of off road driving.

If I would buy michelins for any truck or passenger car If I wasnt looking for performance.

Generals arent as bad as Im making them out to be, But I sure as **** would never buy them.

I will agree with you then. I love my nitto NT555's and my old coopers though(that I used on track and street). Goodyears performance line and Kumho's performance lines are great, I will agree with that as well. My favorites are hoosier, Kumho, nitto, BFG and goodyear. But that is both for (DOT)drag radials, (dot)autocross/road race tire, and performance street.:thumb:

Not a particular fan of the cross terrains, They're good tires, but like you said, cross terrains are a wimpy.

if you find the right place that takes police tire takeoffs you can get them for $25-35 a piece. i had them on my 93. they were goodyear ultragrips i beleive, they were very very sticky they were a directional allseason tire. the reason that i say this is that the cop cars have to keep a decent amount of tread on there car, and once it gets down to a certain level they take them off. so these are used but are still good. when i worked at sears and put tires on vehicles and changed oils. the generals were a cheaply made tire. they would be fine for a regular car but for someone that wants some performance out of them then i would say no. THis is what they look likeUltragrip

The ultra grips are the snow tires the PD's use. The Eagle GT4 is what they use for summer. And as far as truck tires, nothing beats the BFG All Terrain T/A KO.

Thats what my brother and i thought, untill he got the general grabbers. I have the KO's on my truck and in the snow i have to be VERY light on the gas to get moving with out much trouble. He on the other hand, can take of normally and barley spin at all.

As for the car i am looking at the Nitto NT555's. I talked to the guys at Discount Tire, and they said this is the best tire around 120 a piece.

That's interesting since I can pretty much take off full throttle with my dad's mountaineer. The best thing about them though is we get over 75k per set. At $105/tire that's the best value I've found. As soon as my BFG Rugged trails run down on my truck I'm switching over to the AT's

yes it is, it's a 65/35 split between rear and front. And you pretty much need to be on a sheet of ice to get those tires to start slipping in the rear.

Well I know in crappy weather, the Yoko Avid T4's I put on my Malibu are realllllly nice. Considering a set of some for my SHO now. The last day we got 2 inches of snow, I turned a corner, (small country road) at about 20, and mashed the gas to the floor. Suprisingly it turned right around it, didn't plow at all. I'm personally sold on the Yoko's.

The Eagle GT+4's I used to have on my SHO were always a pretty good tire, but the compound below the first few mm isn't the greatest. They got loud pretty quick, and started losing traction after a while. But once its down to that other compound they last for a long time. I still have 2 on the rear of my car I think I bought back in... 2001 ?

Hmm I work for the city so i got some ultra grips that had a nail in them and plugged them, they still had like 50% tread on them, i ran them through the summer and LOVED them those things hook up good!! I start work soon when i get back from school and the first thing im going to do is see if i can get some more for free again:evilgrin:

Mine had GT4s when i bought the car. Tires handled well but straight line they sucked.

And the BFG All Terrain KO Is a great looking tire, But it is a slick when you actually get the truck muddy. The entire tread fills with mud and has nowhere to go.

Im not into performance cars only. Im a truck guy too.:)

I ordered a set of 33/10.50/15s for one of my employees when He preferred the All Terrain KM Mudd terrains, I figured they would be fine but he says he hates them cause they basically load up with mud and slip really bad. The mudd terrains are apparently great off road, As well as Nitto Grabbers.

And General TRUCK tires are pretty damn good actually. But Ill take some michelins anyday of the week. Until you've driven the LTX you dont know what your missing.

i have those general uhp's in 225/45/17 on my SE, they work pretty good. nice grip even around speedy turns. wore a lil quick on the edges during a few laps at gingerman. but for everyday driving they work fine. i have about 8k or more on em and they still have lots of tread left due to thier slightly stiffer rubber. the sidewall is a lil soft for racing, but otherwise good. they do awesome in rain and even in huge puddles. when i bought em they were $475 mounted, lifetime balance and rotation, and i got the extended warranty and tuner lugs. so not too bad.
