Most good summer tires are awesome in the wet. I'd get one of the more inexpensive high performance tires in your case.

Ordered the RE760 sport's today, they should be arriving Friday. After reading countless reviews and threads on different forums, these seemed to be the best tire for my application. Discount tire dirct is currently offering a $70 rebate (which can be filled out right on their website) on Bridgestone's plus I was able to get them to price match tire rack! Final cost for 235/45/17's were $110 a tire shipped...

Good buy. Is that a price match to TireRack's price before shipping?

Well, I should clarify. On TireRack they are $123/per tire and roughly $16/per tire for shipping, totaling about $140/per tire shipped. On Discount tire they are $134 per tire and free shipping. Discount's policy is they will price match with the competitors shipping prices included. Since TireRack's price w/ shipping was actually higher, the salesman I worked with wouldn't match the $123 price but was willing to come down to $127/per tire (to earn my sale, he said...) and with the $70 mail in rebate it brought them down to $110.50 a tire.

I was able to file the rebate right on their website and says that I will receive the confirmation within 5 business days. Unfortunately that $70 will just be used for mounting and balancing but...would have had to spend that anyways.

I just installed my re760's! you will love them. These tires are the best i have ever owned for the price.
But i did end up getting all four from discount tire for 396$ lol. You would be suprised what kida deals you can get when you talk to the people who sit behind the desk. I traded my Extreme contacts for the re760's and he waived the extra 12$ a tire in price difference and then he also got them mounted an balanced for half off because this was my 4th set off tires i ordered from them due to poor customer service. Negotiating skill classes paid off!

So you payed $99 a tire for 16" tires, right? Their listed at like $112 a tire so you saved $13 per tire. I saved $7 per tire plus I got a $70 rebate (another $17.50 off per tire)...:thumb:

So how are these doing for you?

Those are the RE760 Sports. They are the best tires I have ever put on a Daily Driver. They stick VERY well, are comfortable and Quiet. I really do like them a lot. I've driven on them cross country, in EVERY condition. They even got me through completely snow covered roads! (Not saying they are meant for that, but careful driving got me through it).

They are not the sticky tire that a Star Spec, RS-3 or RE-11. They are meant to last longer, but IMO the RE760 is probably one of the Better performance tires for a DD you can buy.

Anybody have any opinions on the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo K110?
Didn't know where to put this, but I wanted to post it somewhere and didn't think it deserved its own thread.

After a week of driving the V12 to/at/from the convention, I think these are my favorite street tire I've had on a SHO. Ride quality is about the same as my previous sets of Continental DW, however the Hankooks don't suffer from the sidewall rollover I experienced with the DW on track. Dry grip on the track was better than expected, and take this FWIW, but I was able to mostly keep up with a couple cars on track rubber. I dropped the air pressure and thought they did ok on the drag strip. Did a couple 2.3x 60's I think without much trouble, and I think I could have done better. On the wet mountain roads after the convention, the tires did great when I pushed the car, even with the 400lbs of crap in the trunk. Combine all of this with the cheap price, and I'm a happy camper. We'll see how they wear over the next year, but I don't think I'll have any issues. From talking to Ron Porter, it sounded like he was also satisfied with his set.

Yep, I was VERY impressed!

Taking into account that I ran them on a stock '89, versus my box-tuned LGT, I was very happy.

The LGT had both RS2s and Azenis get greasy late in the day. I was pushing harder in the late sessions, and the tires did great! Of course, I have the "proper" 215 on a 7.5" rim (!!), but I had no rollover and great grip, much better than I expected. I bumped the fronts to 40 psi over the usual 36 (which the rears had), but I don't think I needed to do that.

And on the dragstrip, I accidentally (as in: not intended) did a 3500-4000 grand clutch dump on the first run. Stock suspension had the tires hopping like crazy, but I turned about 6/10s better than future runs. I then started launching off idle - 1500 rpm, and the tires hooked right up and I bogged. Which I continued doing to tune for bracket racing. Until I lost to Kelvin with a redlight in the MTX Final (I rolled forward after staging and launched deep, rather than my usual shallow stage).

Bottom line: tires are much better than I expected, for both the track and the drags.
