I recently purchased new tires for the SHO. It had from the factory the Michelins(non pp with pp wheels). I was going to get those, then I saw the F1 supercars had been reduced from 270 to 170. So I ordered those. So far it is driving much better than before as the tires were really riding poorly, especially when braking. They still showed 5/32" at 55K miles. I know I might only get half that with the F1's but I wanted to try them out.

Also there is an $80 rebate on a set of 4.

I just saw them on tirerack.com today for $159 each plus $80 Visa card rebate. But with the $60 shipping, I'm just gonna go to Ford and have them match the price. They are normally $319 through Ford. That's HALF OFF! I don't need tires yet, but at that price I'll pick them up and hang on to them until I do need them. Anyone know proper storage for tires? Will they still be ok a year from now if they are just sitting in my heated garage?

Is it possible they're on-sale because Goodyear is replacing this design?

I don't think so. Everywhere else I checked, just tires, Ford, Goodyear, still have the tires at regular price.

TireRack buys complete runs of some tires. Perhaps Goodyear wanted to clean out their inventory etc. Also, just because Goodyear will continue to offer F 1's, that doesn't mean that they haven't or aren't changing the compound.

If you want to know for sure, call my friend Mason (Rush) at the TireRack, and he will give you the scoop.

I saw F1s in an 18" for the V were to be about $560 for the set. F1 Supercar EMTs used to run $460 per tire when the V1 had those as OEM...
