It looks great but why is it perforated? I wouldnt get just because of that. And what if i didnt need the rear and wanted red piping on the front seats? Is their a cost for that?

THanks
Frank

It is perforated b/c that is what I wanted for that seat, and it is what came factory, we can put whatever kinda inserts you want in it lol, heck if you wanted to send me a half raw hide I'd sew it in there for ya ;). Id have to talk to charlie about the possiblilty of doing just the fronts, and as far as piping, the only factory piping around the gen I seats is where the back attaches to the front, the rest of it is a single topstich on half inch foam to simulate piping. I would be happy do put whatever color piping around the back for you though for nothing additional, and the same with red stitching, if it was desired.

Nice

IM gonna send you some pics with my rear seats i picked up for cheap. They have red piping thats why i ask, i would want them to match.

Send me an email and ill send you the pic, and if you could find out whether or not the just the fronts could be done, that would be great. THanks.....It does look good, trust me on that. Dont want you to think i was joshing the job.

I really want something durable for the front.....my fat @$$ needs to get in the car and not worry about wearing away the bolster......stupid bolster........

Sorry for the ramble....thanks for the reply

Alright sounds like a plan, pics would be required, bc, iirc their is no piping on the back seat at all from the factory, so I would need to see where exactly they placed it. As for the bolsters I will take pics today of one of the covers off of the seat, we reinforced the place where the bolster meets the acctual seat back on both sides to prevent that seam from pulling, b/c in both of my cars that is where it started ripping, as far as durability as long as you keep it clean and conditioned, both leather and vynl will last a while, when I finish up the website for all this I will have a list of products that would be best to use on it. Oh and tinted windows help alot too. Ultimatly leather will last the longest but it is also considerably more expensive. We might also have an option just to do the bolsters in leather for like 30 bucks more or something, since they are not that large.

Those look very well made. :thumb: Be aware that the tan in the '90s is different than all the Mocha colors (it's actually called "Sandstone"). Also the '89s have different headrests and the '89s and '90s have slightly larger bolsters than the '91s.

I will keep that in mind, a fix for the '91s would be including somehalf inch foam to wrap around the bolster to fill out the cover, which has worked pretty well in other applications we've done. And everyone should specify what year model the kit is for so that we can get the correct color match up.

:: Update ::
We've still been really bogged down with other work, but we got a little time this evening to work on it, the cushion is 100% done and the seat back just needs to be wrapped, and the fold down armrest is just about finished. any ways the pics are up on my album , http://s54.photobucket.com/albums/g87/excidere is the link I apologise for the blurryness, my hands get shakey when I havent eaten. There are a few pics of the covers off in their, and one of the re-enforcement of the wings, as well as charlie dancing to zoot suit riot with a cover on his head ;)

Those look great! Could you do any minor custom work? I have a Sable rear seat in my '90 and it does not have the 2 bumps on the top. I also have the Sable head rests in the back so I would need 2 extra head rest covers.

It would be difficult for us to do something like that, b/c we dont have anything to pattern off of unless you wanna mail the old cover ;)... although it may be similar to the gen II of which I do have, I'll see if I can find any pics of a sable backseat.

Thanks for the positive comments, I cant take too much credit, I had the idea and a little experience and Charlie has the skills and lots of experience. So I think we make a good team ;)

The stitching is the same as a 1st gen SHO (I have SHO upholstery on it now). The foam is the same a 2nd gen. The headrests are the same as the front ones. What is the brand of the vinyl you are using? I used Enduratex perforated vinyl to reupholster my door panels and was wondering if you just happened to be using the same.

And another thing, I have pics of anything you would need on that Sable back seat. I even have the old upholstery, it's stitched in a different style though...

Sounds like it would be possible for us to modify it a little to get it to fit right, if the foam bun is the same as a gen II I can test fit it on mine. We are using Spradling Softside btw, IMO it is the best, whisper is nice but in my experience wears pretty quickly, I wanted something that would last.

::update::
Finished the backseat FINALLY, hopefully next week my carpet shows up and I will have pics of the whole new interior, minus the package tray and new console, as for ordering, tomarrow I am planning on getting the group buy set up since it looks like we will be having 5 or so...

Is their anyway I could get a swatch of the perforated material? What kind of carpet did you order? I was not happy with the standard aftermarket molded carpets that everyone sells and had one molded out of ACS 1500 series carpet with a rubber backing. It's much more durable and is as thick or thicker than 2nd gen carpet.

I ordered ACS1500 series molded black, That is what my shop uses for interiors and I have always liked it. I can send you a sample of both if you would like, pm me an address.

::Update::
New pics of the backseat finished with the armrest are up.. http://s54.photobucket.com/albums/g87/excidere and I just realised I did not take anypics of the armrest itself folded down, so perhaps tomarrow I will take them out in the sunlight and get some good non blurry pics of the whole kitandkabootle including more, better, front seat pics. Anyways we now have a complete patern so I guess we need a first contestant ;) Colors we are still working on... I am toying with the possibility of putting togeather a ring of samples to send around... or you could pick a color off of katzkin.com and I have samples of their vynl and will match to that. and I guess thats it.... Should I go ahed and start working complete 'how to rewrap your nasty seats with nifty new seat covers'? or do you guys think you can handle it?

Do your covers have all the metal hog ring rods (or something like them) or do we need to reuse out existing rods? Also is their any way to get the back edge of the lower seat cover made out of carpet like the originals? Can I buy extra perforated vinyl to reupholster my door panels to match?

The kit that I have pictures of I reused my rods, however if you want some new ones I have a big pile of them I could cut and send along... we are also researching some premade listing materials that are plastic runners and nylon sacks... instead of metal and muslin... so that is also a posiblity, we are still looking for a correct size.

Yes we can make the lower backflap of the front seat cushion out of carpet if you desire.

As far as the door panels go me and charlie talked about it... but it would be difficult for you to do that pressed line around the bottom of the handle... however we could just put a french seam to follow that or something of that nature if you wanted it... I would have to play around with it a bit and see if I can get something to look right that is not to difficult to install.

I would just need the material because I have Sable door panels in my SHO and they are upholstered a little differently.

Assuming ofcourse you would do just the front.

I am pretty sure they just replaced the single topstitch with a colored welt cord. We could reproduce that on the front seats for little or no extra. However matching to the existing red in your car could be kind of difficult.

Sorry I haven't kept up much this week, work has been insane and I am getting married in a month so life is crazy ;)... but the gb is getting started, just about to submit a post.
