So then does anyone have any experience with the Katzkin covers? How's the fit? I assume that they replace the factory covers.

I'd definitely be interested in stopping by. But, being a full-time student and working part time, I don't have a lot of free time. I'll shoot you a PM if I can come down sometime. Do you just work during the week? Weekends? An idea would be good, and might be able to help me work out a time.

I use katzkin covers all the time, they fit pretty well on most vehicles, although I haven't installed one on a SHO. I have seen a few pics online of the katzkin kits installed in a genII and they looked pretty good. And yes they are designed to replace the factory covers.

Jarrod the shop is open 8:30-6 mon-friday, however after we finish the seats they will be taken home, of which I am almost always there ;) Aswell if their is a big market for the kits, I will probably set up a workspace in my garage to work on saturdays... since their simply is not enough time to keep up with our regular work and sewing kits during the week.

::update::

Got pics, this seat was sewn completly from the pattern, it is the passenger seat and it is 100% vynl. Sorry the pics aren't the best, the lighting kinda sucks in the shop.

We slightly modified the back pocket to give it a cleaner look, it has plastic reinforcement inside the top hem so that it will resist looking saggy and such.

Alright quick update: Reinforced a few weak spots on the front covers, and now its time to work on the back bench, hopefully by the end of next week it will be completed with pics and we will be able to begin producing them.

Also we will be offering a warrenty, 3 year limited, assuming you keep armorall products off of it, and clean and condition it 2 times a year.

We talked today and are going with a $950 shipped for all the seats plus headrests. No extra for colored inserts or contrasting stitching. Leather face pieces will, however, be more expensive. Ballpark figure is gonna be around $1400 which we wont acctually know till we do one, and we will just add the extra cost of leather on to a $900 base price. We will offer a price break to $850 if 5 or more people order, possibly lower at 10 if there are that many interested, since we will get a price break on materials. I will email Bizzy tonight and see where this thread should get placed and what actions should be taken, but I will reiterate the fact that it will probably be closer to the end of next week before we can acctually start production of a kit.

And finally for colors we decided the best way would be to goto a trim supply shop near you, and look at Spradling softside vinyl samples, spradling is one of the largest manufacturers in the industry right now and a sample book shouldn't be that hard to find near you. If you do look and find a color you like just write down the color number and send it along and I should be able to purchase the same exact vinyl at my trim supply. http://spradlingvinyl.com The most difficult part is going to be if somone wants leather face pieces, matching the leather to the vinyl, the factory dyes them all off the same lot so their is no difference, but we do not have that luxury so it may not match exactly...

I will try and get some better pics tomarow out in the sunlight, the last ones dont do it justice at ALL :)....

How about a full cloth setup? I can't find such a setup for the life of me and frankly could care less about leather or vinyl... Possible? TIA!

Yes we are doing the stock mocha, and the black, and if I can get a good color sample to match up the grey color, was the grey the same in the gen I's and II's? My 95se has the grey color and I could probably match to that. As far as body cloth, honestly we could make your kit out of whatever you want, but there may be durability issues, and matching design weave would be kinda difficult.

Update
We started paterning the backseat, the plan is still to have it done by the end of next week with pics.

I would definately want a grey set, and possibly a black set as well. Maybe we need to do some research into the grey. For some reason Im thinking that the grey changed from gen 1 to Gen 2. And was unique for the SHO, as in different than the non-SHO taurus'

It's is not different if you have SHO seats in your se. But they are gen II seats. I think that that my supply shop acctually has a chart to match OEM to Softside vynls, I will check on monday. If not I guess I could just go junk yard hopping and cut a piece out of one of those ;)

And for the GEN II guys I just had an idea hit me, I could probably set up a group buy from katzkin through my shop for a discount on those kits if there is enough interest...

Acctually I had ment to update yesterday, but instead I had to install new outer tie rod ends on the SE.

We did acctually get the majority of the back seat paterned inspite of the fact that we have had almost no free time. The cushion is completly done and sewn together, the seatback is close. The good news is that me and Charlie worked it out with the bosses to move to a different building so we can have access after hours to the machines and such, so definitly by the end of this month we should be able to produce kits.

Oh and about the grey, I am meeting with Jarrod so he can see the seats, whenever we get them done. He has a grey/cloth interior so I am planning on getting a match from that.

And for the genII guys, I can definitly set up a group buy through katzkin if anyone is interested. As long as it is through like a car club, Ron said he had done stuff like that before for other clubs.

Looks good, but

It looks great but why is it perforated? I wouldnt get just because of that. And what if i didnt need the rear and wanted red piping on the front seats? Is their a cost for that?

THanks
Frank
