Per the owner's manual:
Retighten the lug nuts to the specified torque at 100 miles (160 km) after any wheel disturbance (tire rotation, changing a flat tire, wheel removal, etc.).

Wheel Lug Nut Bolt size
1/2-20 UNF
Wheel lug nut torque
100 ft-lb / 135 N•m

Just discovered that the socket size needed for the lug nuts is a 19mm seems to fit a bit better then 3/4" which also fits.

Mark -- the 3/4" is fractionally larger (5/100ths mm.) than the 19mm

Told you I wasn't very familiar with the metric system! Or maybe it's the inexpensive lug nut socket set I bought at Harbor Freight! Will check them again. :banghd:

No worries Mark, They'll both fit because they're so close in size but the 19mm will fit just that little bit snugger.

Given the performance orientation of this car I think it's prudent to add that the factory tires are ZR-rated tires (at least that's the case with the PP) but based on what I understand the factory speed limiter to be set at, V-rated (and realistically probably H-rated) would be safe if the speed limiter is still in tact.

I forget where I read it exactly, could have been Motor Trend's writeup on the SHO, but I believe the factory top speed of the SHO is about 150 mph. If so, a rating above H would be appropriate.
Can someone verify please?

Ahh, okay. I thought I read on this forum that the top speed is limited in the factory tune to 133 mph. There seems to be a lot of questions about this with no real confirmation.

-Rod

Yeah, info seems to vary a lot -- would be nice to know to what extent Ford limits these car's top speed.

Our SHO's up here come with V rated tires which are good for up to 149 mph.
That doesn't mean the car will do it, just that the tires could do it safely.
It does seem that some of our members have tested the SHO's limits if one can believe the speedometers.

The trouble with talking about this is that sooner or later someone will go out and test the car again which really isn't what we want here.

All we need to know really is that the tires will cover our butts if and when the car goes at an excessive speed.

Speaking of which: those of you who have tunes which eliminate the factory top speed may be able to exceed the factory speed ratings on the original tires.
Don't forget that if you're going for top speed, you best have tires that are rated correctly.

Happy motoring.:)
