so my wife's grandfather wrecked his 99 sable, basically clipped a telephone pole and peeled the pass. side off the car it has a 3.0 duratec in it. he says he's going to keep it for anyone who might need parts off of it and since i'm the only one that has any intreast in ford cars in the family it's as good as mine. so my question is if the subframe hasn't been screwed up will it work for a swap into my 93? and is a gen 3 subframe swap really as good as some try to make it out to be? also if i can't use it for a subframe swap what parts should i save off of it for any future upgrades to the 93? :thankyou:

As you have an MTX the 99 SLO subframe would need to be altered in its foward mount and the trans mount would need to be cut off your exiting subframe and adapted to the new one. NESHO is likely the best shop to do this as they have taken the time and expense to build a 3 dimensional jig that picks up on all key datums and accurately located the new forward and trans mounts in space (and rear mount if a SHO donar subframe is used).

There should be a couple threads on this that survived the purge . . . Gen III upgrade was the nicest thing I've done after the Quaife to this car.

 I can do it....

i know you can, the way i understand it you can do anything. but is it really worth it? am i really going to see that much of an improvement? also what is the difference between the gen 3 SLO and SHO subframes? should it really be done with the SHO subframe to get the full benefit of the swap? i'm wanting a 3.2 and i'm just thinking that this might be something i should do while the engine and tranny is out.

It is well worth the swap. As Zak says above "nicest thing I've done after the Quaife"
You will be please with the difference.

Better geometry, everything I have heard has been positive. If James put one and left it in that white turd of his Im pretty sure it was worth it.

I start with a SLO SF anyways, so its easier. Everyone above is correct. Better geometry, handling, easier changable front end parts....
