This just had to happen the week after the 80 degree weather. :nut: On Friday night I kinda noticed when I started the car it hesitated a second before starting. This brings us to this morning its about 45 degrees outside and I turn the key, the dummy lights all light up, stereo lights up, but no cranking. So I turn it off and try to start it with the remote start. The dash lights come on, I hear the fuel pump go on, but no start. I'm not getting any noises from the motor. I kind of went around and check the fuses but it got dark and cold. Is this the starter?? I'll be jacking it up tomorrow for more clues.

check cables for corrosion, and that they are secure....check connections on battery and battery condition.

Now on your gen 1 which is like mine, there is a solenoid on the drivers side fender. There is a small wire that is only clipped on that solenoid that if its broke or loose, will cause the conditions you describe.

My 93 does the same thing every year about this time too. I just clean and **** the tab on the starter solenoid and wire connector.

If all the cleaning doesn't work just lightly tap the starter with a rubber mallot while someone is cranking. If it starts cranking your brushes are worn or if you hear a click they could be welded shut.

I went out today around 12 and tried to start it, only to come up with the same symptoms but no start. I then went out about 20 mins ago to push it into the driveway to jack it up and check the connections to the starter. But for the **** of it I tried to start it with the key and it wouldn't start but the alarm would go off. Then I hit the remote start button and it fired right up. Tomorrow I'm going to call the "experts" who installed the remote start and question them as to whats going on. Thats if it starts tomorrow.

Check to see if your silinoid needs replacing. Have someone sit in the car and turn the key to the run position and press in the clutch. Then take a screw diver and touch the two contacts on the silinoid. If the the car starts replace the silinoid. Mine was so bad it crumbled when I tried to remove it.
