Driving my '90 SHO today, I downshifted into second, and heard a snap, only to realize that engaging first or fifth, the shifter would move to third, and engaging second or reverse, it would go into fourth. Does anyone know what piece might have snapped, or how I would go about fixing this? I can go from 1-3-5 without neutral, and 2-4-R without neutral as well. I can start in third, and shift to fourth, but that's it. Any advice would be very much aprreciated

I assume it is a cable shift and it sounds like a cable might have broken or more likely just popped off of its socket. Just have to crawl under and check it out. There is one cable for up and down and another one going side to side. If you can move the shifter side to side while it is in gear then you have a problem with that cable.
