Altho I appreciate that photoshop... I don't think they represent the wheel very well. If you guys want other wheel options, This is it. If this group buy goes through I'll at least have a vendor that will take us seriously to get other wheels made.
If I don't have the 5 interested buyers by This coming Monday, I'm pulling the GB. I don't want to waste the vendors time.

Have you looked into Kosei K1's? Theyre considered to be very strong, and have big brake clearence. Just a thought- people are alot like parrots, they hear one thing and repeat it over and over without really knowing what theyre saying. two or three pics of a failed wheel is all it takes to scare them off. fwiw ive witnessed the all mighty bbs fail, but never a knock-off wheel. Ive owned a set of these wheels in 16x8 4x100, and structurally they look pretty solid compared to the rotas in the failure pics. Rota is aware what application these are for, and theyre not going to stick their neck out after all these years of rumors and probably law suits..

Yeah, that was just a rush job, using the picture up at the top of the thread (in which the wheel is turned slightly), and a small stock photo of a Gen2 and Gen3 SHO from Tirerack.
I kinda expected someone else to take more time, with a better starting picture and replace mine.
I did have to manually reshape the spokes a bit, due to the similar colors that show up in some spots on the original image (anyone who's tried amateur photo manipulation should know what I'm talking about), so I might have slightly changed their look a bit doing that.
I think I'm going to take them down, especially if they're convincing people not to get in on the group buy... My intention was the opposite (I think they look pretty good).

FWIW, I've dealt with the Wheel Dude for Rotas for my LGT. Great folks, great prices, and generally good to deal with.
You don't get something for nothing. Unless you are going with FORGED wheels, and the prices that they command, getting cast wheels in a larger size at a lighter weight are trading off strength-versus-weight.
Be it Kosei, or Rota, or any number of similar wheels. My LGT, at 3520#s, weighs what a SHO weighs, BUT......the weight is distributed more evenly, without as much on the front end.
Two of my Rotas had a crack on the inside bead just before the '07 Convention, and I had to get a set of wheels from whatever Discount Tire had. Rotas were on there for a few years at that point. They were wider and lighter than the stock wheels. With the crappy roads up here, it didn't surprise me.
If you want bigger, lighter wheels, you will have to spend the $$$$ for forged wheels.
Apart from that, Rotas are nice rims.
A number of years ago, I looked into Hart wheels for my SHO. They are excellent wheels, very light (and pricey!!), but none had the weight capacity for the front of a SHO. I was considering it just for the summer but I passed.
Centerline also had a line of inexpensive forged wheels for FWD cars, with a 1200# limit. One guy on the V6 list, with a Doug Lewis-built ATX SHO, bought a set. John Hrinsin and & I told him it was a bad idea. I have to give the guy credit. He came back online in about 6 months, and said that both front wheels had cracks, and admitted that it was a bad idea. Centerline still sells them for the Taurus with the 1200# capacity. Maybe OK for a SLO, but I would not do them on an ATX at full weight.

So why even bother making the wheels if they can't handle the weight of the SHO? I would rather not buy a set of wheels that will crack that easily...

Because some folks have lightened SHOs that will work with that weight limit.
Because some folks don't have a heavy ATX slushbox in their SHOs.
Because some folks want lightweight wheels, and will put up with changing wheels every year for the weight saving.
Because some folks may want some light track-only wheels.
Because some folks want something different and the cost is not a concern.
Because a lot of SHO folks are cheap SOBs that aren't willing to pay the cost for mods on a low-volume, orphan car.

I have 2 'lightened' SHOs.
Every SHO I own is an MTX.
I always loved the Slipstreams. They look good on many cars IMO.
