I get a whiff of fuel on startup. Concentration is similar to that of driving by a gas station. Yes, windows up and hvac running. Typically lasts a mile or so. Anyone else?

Do you catch this whiff everytime you start, or only, say, the first start of the morning when starting the car in the garage? You probably know where I'm going with this, are you sure it's your car and not some car or lawn mower that you consistently park near, then you start your car, the blower motor kicks in and spread the fuel vapors from outside in to the cabin, giving the impression that it is related to when you start your car? If you're confident it's your car, you need to get it checked out ASAP.

i had the same... not sure what it was and mine was outdoors, not in the garage. Just a strong concentration of gas - passenger also noted it.

Happens at home in driveway or 50 miles away in the parking lot of the mall. Definitely my car. Much more noticeable with hvac blowing. Not sure how often it is, just got in from deployment a few days ago and have to go back out real soon. I'll have my wife drop it off at Ford.

You aren't one of those people that tries to squeeze more fuel in to the tank after the pump clicks off just to make and even dollar amount, are you? Maybe you flooded the carbon canister and what you are smelling is the evap vent/purge valve letting vapors in to your intake to be burned off.

Nope. This is now my wife's car since about 24k miles. I can't remember a time I have gotten in a car that she daily drives and there is more than 1/4 tank gas in it. She hardly ever, if at all, puts a full tank in it unless its my "fortunate" turn to drive it.

I just got my 2010 Show back from the delar yesterday after them having the car for 2 weeks having the gas smell repaired, this is the second time that i had to bring this matter to there attention the first time they could find nothing wrong with the car.
2 weeks ago i was stoped and fueling the car and thought i would open the hood as the smell was getting worse and i found that there is a part of the EVAP emmisions system that is located right nest to the firewall on the pasenger side of the car that had a oily residue on part of the device, upon getting a good whif of the residue it smelled just like the gas smell that had been driving me crazy ever since buying the car in december.
Delearship called and stated that indead that part was leaking fumes and that the mechanic deamed the car unsafe to be driving so they wanted to keep the car and order replacement parts, the new part has to have several hoses replaced as well and this took some time getting the parts rounded up and installed.
So far have drive the car about 75 miles since the repair and not even a whife of fuel smell getting back into the car or even smelling any on the outside of the car. i hope this info might help others that are having same issue.

Since our vehicles have Direct Injection and DI pump pressures of up to 2,200 PSI, I wouldn't mess with this. Take it to the dealer..... with last poster's comments.
