Hello, I'm new to SHO forum. I have 93 white ATX.
I'm having problems with gas mileage. I commute 64 miles daily and used to get about 24+\- mpg . now all of sudden I get 20 hwy and 15-19 city. When I came to a stop, the car will sometimes stall and I can see black smoke coming in my mirrors. the car is running rich. I've replaced the IAC. Check engine comes on soon as the engine is at normal operating temp. I've also clean the EGR valve itself.
Any suggestions as to what I need to check for?

If the check engine light is on, simply pull the codes (as already stated) What have you done to the car mod wise? DOes it have an LPM?

Oxygen sensors? You can get a code reader from Wal-Mart for something like 25 or 30 bucks. It's really easy to do, and it will save you some time and money. Some garage wanted $50 to pull codes on my car. I laughed in their face, asked them if they were kidding, and walked out.

You can do it for free by using a paperclip...

By connecting the signal return to the single light gray connector (ground) the CE light will display them for you.

Autozone to check codes? laughing

I remember my very first code check at Autozone. I have a '94, and he gave me about 11 2 digit codes. Then I checked the forum to see what they meant... then I figured I better start learning a bit more about my car.

Use the paperclip. It's cheap and easy.
