I am almost finished painting my 90 project car. I am dealing with some very serious rust issues. One such issue is the latch for the gas door opener. The plastic latch piece is frozen in place and I can't figure out how to remove the whole thing. when I turn the nut, it just moves the manual pull cable in the trunk. Please help!

If you guys need a better description of the problem just let me know. It usually sounds right in my head when I type it.

Okay, so now I am done painting my car and I will hopefully have the engine back in tomorrow and the gas lines and interior done today. I got the doors lined up well enough for now and the only thing I don't have a clue about is the gas door latch. I can't figure out how to remove it. If I can get it off I can use a working piece from another car. Please help!

One just sold on ebay, and there were a couple pics. find that auction (completed) and study the pics, that might help.

Mine comes off via the two screws. shrug

Oh, okay. I can get the door off, it's the piece back inside the fender that the cable attaches to that lets the door go when you pull the switch. Thanks for the input though guys. If I figure it out, I will post it. Hopefully I will get pics up when I get the car finished.
