Hey Guys,

MY ATX has been acting up a little lately. Early moring starts aren't a problem, but if I shu t it down, then go to start it up 30min to 2 hours afterwards, the car really struggles to idle....it sputters, stalls, and there is a gurgling sound coming from the fuel pump.

As well, the car seems to be running excessively lean. Not bad enough to throw any codes, but the cars feels 'raspy', lacks a little power, and heats up rather quickly. The intake is solid; no leaks. I have tried two different MAFs. O2s are new.

Some days it runs fine, but the problem is becoming much more frequent.

What I am thinking is the the fuel pump is failing and cause fuel starvation at times. Am I on the right track? Everything else for a 60k has been done save the timing belt and valve lash.

TIA

Did you change the fuel filter already? If not, I'd do that first. Otherwise, I'd say you're on the right track. I would also check the fuel pressure.

My check valve makes a gurgle especially in warm weather, and it makes an extremely weird yelping noise at idle. I gotta get that tank out and replace it and the fuel pump.
