A new fuel pump and filter were installed in my friends SHO by me. Half a year later it stopped working due to a clogged filter. Is the pump shot or is it still good? I don't want to toss a brand new pump. Any help would be much appreciated. thumb

Was the clogged output fuel filter the cause of the pump not pumping or the pump not running? If the pump was running prior to the filter change, then it is probably functional. If the pump stopped running due to the clogged filter then it is likely burned out and would need replacement. All you have to do is turn the ignition key to ON and listen for the pump. Does it run? If not, the latter scenario is the likely situation.

How do you know it burned out? Just because you had a clogged fuel filter doesn't mean that it got burned out. Maybe the IRCM is bad and that makes you think that the pump isn't working. If it doesn't prime when you turn the key, try swapping in a different IRCM and see if it turns on. If it doesn't, then probably the pump is bad.

The pump didn't prime like it normally would. It did make a thunking sound when the engine was turning over. shrug
