My fuel gauge isn't working, at all. It won't move whether I turn the car on or off. I filled up the tank until gas flowed out of the tank, and the low fuel light stayed on and the needle didn't budge from E.

What do I need to look at? As far as I can tell from searches there is a Yellow with White stripe wire running on the passenger side from the tank to the instrument cluster. There also appears to be a Orange with Yellow stripe wire involved. Is that correct?

Also, is the low fuel light getting it's reason to turn on because of the position of the needle?

edit: This is the diagram I figured some information from, but I don't really know how to read these:

Gen 1 or gen 2... I've got a factory electrical and vacuum trouble shotting manual for my ex-90 i had...

My scanner isn't working right now but I'll read off what I can get.

INS panel gets power from Fuse panel from wire Red with Yellow tracer

Sending unit gets power from the INS cluster at the Solid state slosh module with a Yellow wire with a white tracer.

At sending unit 22.5 ohms resistance is empty 145 ohms resistance is full

Going back to the dash from the sending unit the wire is Orange with a yellow tracer connecting to the fuel gauge, which also looks like the ground.

From The Low fuel warning light gets it's signal from the Slosh module. The fuel gauge also gets its signal from the slosh module. The Slosh module gets it's reading/signal from the sending unit.

I would put an ohmmeter over the sending unit to see what kind of reading you get, that way you might be able to find your culprit!

Good luck!

It's a 90.

Thanks for the info. That is quite a bit more than I thought I'd get!

To get the ohm metering on the sending unit do I need to get at the unit itself in the tank or can I go through the wire?

you should be able to just go through the wire.... btw you edited your original post correct? that pic wasn't on before, and that's what I was basically going for!

I basically tried to say what you posted... .hope it wasn't too confusing
