For sale is my white on black (cloth/leather seats) 92 MTX. $400
**will get pics up ASAP**
I have owned it since fall 06. Clean carfax. A tad under 292,000 miles. It is in very rough shape overall.
The good:
-engine runs strong... sometimes (see below)
-transmission/clutch work fine - trans shifts smooth even when it's 20 below outside
-starts up no problem even when it was 20 below a few weeks ago
-I was told the car had a recent 60k tuneup from Performance Plus in Madison (SHO specialty shop) when I picked it up from the previous owner, and there was a PP sticker on the trunk when I got the car so I assume it really was there. Never confirmed it though. Therefore it probably has 30k or so miles since the 60k.
-No oil in the plug wells
-interior is clean overall, especially the seats. However the passenger side carpet has oil on it because of an aftermarket oil pressure gauge line veryt slowly dripping into that area.
-new battery 12/08, 800cca
-heat works fine
The bad:
-Regarding how the engine runs.. I believe the cats are clogged. When I got the car it was doing the same thing and I had to replace the y-pipe, I got a used one with ~80k miles on it. Now it started behaving the same way as it did with the bad cats - runs fine up to 3500-4500rpm then hits a wall, it's definitely an exhaust restriction. If it's below freezing it will pull hard right up to redline, lol.
-There's bad rust over the rear wheel wells and the front driver door, and some rust on various other spots. Primarily the wheel wells though.
-alignment issues, pulls to the right, control arm needs replaced I think
-It has a catback exhaust and the mufflers are rusted through, making it very loud.. it will need new exhaust all around except the manifolds.
-Currently has an issue with electrical (I think it may be the multifunction switch in the steering column). There is a huge voltage drain at idle and the windshield wipers won't come on. This is the main thing that needs to be fixed ASAP. I will try to get this fixed before I sell it but no guaruntees.
-no airconditioning, at all.. it was gutted
-trunk is all gutted.. hey, it's extra room
-front bumper is all gutted, NO crash bumper is installed, the foglights were removed, etc.
-needs a new passenger side headlight housing + bulb.. the housing is cracked allowing moisture to get in, this makes it blow bulbs very quickly.. I found an ebay seller who sells brand new Sable headlights (samething, just bolt up the "fishtanks" to them) for ~60 shipped BOTH sides.
I'm trying to put everything up front, although I may be forgetting some things. This car is *very* rough, probably inches away from being a parts car with a good working motor & transmission/clutch, hence the price.
I have the clean/clear title and the car does run and drive a-ok right now, the most critical things to fix are the wipers (hopefully I can get those working) and the passenger headlight. Otherwise you can just drive it home (just make sure it won't be snowing or raining.. or you better put a really good coat of rain-x on the windshield
)
