I used liberal amounts of PB blaster. I was extremely careful. It stripped.

It's too tight in there to try to pound on an undersized socket, or to get a set of vice-grips in there. The angle's too severe to try an easy-out from the bottom, not to mention I don't think I can get a drill bit to extend that far.

Has anybody encountered this before, and is there a decently affordable solution?

remove the next set of 8mm bolts that holds the housing the the sensor bolts to. You can then pry this off easily, easier if you loosen the two 10mm bolts on top of the cam mount. Remove that block with the sensor intact and remove it on the bench. I just replaced mine today and the seal.

Man, I didn't even see any bolts on the housing. Can it be done without taking the valve cover off? I'm sick of taking this thing apart. =P

There should then be a stud you can grab with a vice grips once the sensor is removed.
