So I went to do the VTA BOV mod...and when I looked down toward the turbo, I noticed the boot didn't look right. I moved the charge pipe just a tad and their is a giant gaping rip in the rubber boot. Where the heck do I get a replacement from? Do I have to replace the entire charge pipe? I can't even figure out how to get that boot off the charge pipe. its like a hard plastic clamp on one side, and a standard clamp on the turbo side.

It doesn't really look like any of those. I found the part on oemfordparts.com and it says $220 for the intake hose assembly. You gotta be kidding me that ford designed it so you can't just replace the coupler. And I can't be the first SHO owner to experience a rip in the front turbo rubber coupler....my car has barely 50k miles

It's just a punch in the gut when this happens as I'm semi-unemployed. I guess it's cold showers this month so I can buy an entire plastic hose just for a rubber coupler.

What is the part number? you can find discounted parts on various online dealer sites as well on eBay, usually the discount is 30% max off MSRP.

Just wrap it with the aluminum duct tape that you can buy at lowes for $8. Take you time and it will look decent and should last a while.

I don't think aluminum tape will hold up well on a rubber elbow being subjected to 13-15 psi of pressure. I just bent over and ordered the part from Ford. Its $220 because they only sell the intake charge pipes as an entire assembly from the back turbo to the front, then to the air box. It does come with a 2 year unlimited miles warranty, which I'm sure I'll probably utilize before the 2 years are up.

For future reference if this happens to anybody else, the air intake assembly (charge pipes) part number is 9B659A

Welcome to Ford Taurus SHO ownership. LOL.

Not sure where you live but I've never seen an SHO in the junkyard. Not yet at least, at this rate mine will end up in one soon. Stuff seems to break left and right on these cars.

Chicago.

SHO's seem to be more bountiful here, rather than in other locales.

If that happens to mine I will get the hard pipes. Probably can be purchased for not significantly more than the OEM pipes.

Jeff I looked into hard pipes but $220 for factory versus $500 plus for the hardpipes is a no brainer for me since I'm broke as can be right now.
Hmm ... not able to locate this part yet based on the part number (without asking the dealer). Closest I am finding is this

Definitely does not sound like the part from your description though ...???

Possibly this one AA5Z-9R530-C based on MSRP? FordParts.com has taken a crap when it comes to the SHO. No parts listings at all!

Dealership told me the part number I had was replaced with a new one (probably because the old ones crack!) so its a different number now but they can still crossreference it with the part number I gave them.

If you have not installed it yet, maybe you can return it and buy online? I know well the misery of penny pinching :(
