Last night i confirmed pretty low fuel pressure on my car. Seems that as soon as I pull the vac line off the FPR that the pressure jumps from 20psi (idle) to 30psi. While running the pressure never gets above 30psi, regardless of wether the vac line is hooked up or not. So I'm leaning towards the FPR having issues.

So i've got 3-4 spare fuel rails that I can partake of some parts from. The question I have is...is there any kind of washer or gasket that I need for doing this? i know the other end of the fuel rail with the loop and banjo type bolts has a couple of copper crush washers.

My fuel filter isn't that old, and my pump only has about 50k on it. And with the pressure jumping up like it does it seems that the pump and filter aren't the problem. I'm trying to get these issues sorted out so that I can start tuningmy injector slopes with the Tweecer R/T.

Never had to replace one on the SHO, but apparantly there are gaskets, here's what my '94 Manual says about the SHO's FPR:

Fuel Pressure Regulator

Removal

1. If removing fuel pressure regulator with fuel injection supply manifolds installed in vehicle. Perform «Fuel Charging System» Pre-Service Procedure as outlined.

2. Disconnect vacuum hose at fuel pressure regulator.

3. Remove fuel pressure regulator from fuel return line and fuel injection supply manifold and discard sealing gaskets.

Installation

1. Install fuel pressure regulator into fuel return line and fuel injection supply manifold using new sealing gaskets. Tighten fuel pressure regulator to 25-34 N-m (18-25 lb-ft).

2. Connect vacuum hose to fuel pressure regulator.

Pre-Service Procedures

The fuel charging system consists of the throttle body, and the intake manifold, fuel injectors, fuel pressure regulator and idle air control valve. Prior to service or removal of the fuel charging system, the following Steps must be taken:

1. Open hood (16612) and install protective covers.

2. Disconnect battery ground cable (14301).

3. Remove fuel tank filler cap (9030) and release fuel tank pressure.

4. Release pressure from fuel system. Refer to «Section 10-01» for fuel system pressure relief procedures. A fuel pressure relief valve on the fuel injection supply manifold is provided for this procedure

Bruce,
Before you go down to AZ and fork over $80, I have a spare one that works FINE when I was troubleshooting my 93 last summer with fuel issues. Turned out it was the mustang fuel pump I bought used, so the FPR was fine. I will be willing to sell mine for $25 INCLUDING shipping. Lemme know... :thumb:

With the FPR vac line unplugged, you should get at least 40 psi.

Don't be surprised if the pressure is still low after replacing the FPR.
