Found new engine. What's it worth?

Today I was looking for a spring for my timing belt tensioner when I came across an older fellow who had a wrecked gen 1 SHO. He said he would sell me the engine as it was untouched. It's in good shape but he wants $1000 for it. Is that too much?

It is, unless it's extremely low mileage. You can buy whole running cars for $1000 or less.

MTX timing belt tensioner spring? I should have one (As do many others) if you need it.

Generally speaking, $200-500 would be what I would pay for an engine. Depends on mileage and condition.

A brand new 3.0 engine sold for around $1500 a little while ago, so the range Chad mentioned above is about right
