After nearly 3 years on this forum with my 2015 SHO - platinum white performance package - it's time to move on. I sold the SHO over the weekend in favor of a 2018 Explorer Sport. I retired at the end of June and have since reentered the work force, the new job brings a different kind of commute requirement. The SHO has always been a daily driver so a change was in order. With that said, at least part of the spirit of my SHO will live on - I am bringing the Livernois Hurricane package with me. Livernois told me it will transfer right over to the 3.5 EB in the Explorer, they just need the calibrator back to reboot it. No charge, just need to ship it. In nearly 55k over 30 months, the SHO never failed me. Enjoy yours, ladies and gentleman. You all know the Taurus goes to pasture early next year - take care of 'em for me!

Godspeed,

I test drove one of those Explorer Sport models when I bought my 2013 SHO (I’m in a 2017 now), and I have thought that might be my next vehicle as well.

The sport is a nice ride. My mother in law has one. If you haven’t bought one yet, you should check out an Ecoboost Flex also. It drives a lot more like the SHO since the center of gravity is lower and it’s basically an SHO performance pack with a bunch of extra space. My wife’s is awesome. It’s the most comfortable vehicle I’ve ever been in.

I have an non EB Explorer as a rental at the moment and it’s nice aside from being to slow. If I needed an SUV I would definitely consider the Sport.

I just looked at the specs on the Flex Limited. Very sweet.

The Ecoboost Flex is even more unknown than the SHO. You hardly ever see them. The only way you can tell one from a Limited FWD N/A Flex is the wheels are slightly different and the little Ecoboost badge on the lift gate. They’re almost as quick as an SHO, about 5.8 to 60, and just about any performance part that will bolt on an SHO will go right on a Flex. The space is amazing too. A 6’4 adult can ride in back comfortably with the front seat all the way back.F48C3AE2 99F3 4715 B9C2 090A5074521FF83D1C4D C964 4D12 93DA ECB8FEDEC5FF E827A02A 6BC5 4606 83AA ECB27183A135 BC40A479 2E99 45F9 9E06 4800AE9D9A07

Good Luck BAXMAN! I personally would have gone with the White Platinum and Light Stone Interior....Just Kidding! I along with some help form the salesman made him realize that the Light Stone Interior probably wouldn't last half of a PACNW winter with salt, dirt, mud, gravel. It took some convincing but he seems to be happy with the Magnetic and Charcoal Leather. If it gets too hot in the summer, do what I do. Turn the front seats to A/C mode and after a couple of hours it was like sitting on a ice block. If I could figure out a way I would install a coin dispenser like the vending machine on the passengers side. The communist rat even got me looking over the Explorer but alas I have a 2015 for my SUV needs. Some of you saw it at Carlisle. I also just got a 2010 Audi A6 as a semi luxury daily driver to help break up the yearly mileage among three vehicles and help keep Taurus miles down. I like the Sport but I was for the life of me wondering what all the price difference was for the Sport over Limited. It then hit me the SPORT is 4WD ONLY The Limited and XLT is either FWD or 4WD. If I were to jump on the Explorer bandwagon it would be pretty much like BAXMANS but Blue exterior and the 2nd row buckets. My dog kind of got spoiled on the Carlisle road trip with the bed on the floor in between the seats and able to stretch (Business class Lie Flat seating) or sit on the seat during take off and landing.

I leased a 2018 Explorer Sport to replace my wife’s 2015 Explorer XLT. A month later I turned in my 2015 non PP SHO for a 2018 non PP SHO. I swear that the Explorer Sport is faster than the SHO. I think that the transmission programming in the Sport is different from the SHO to account for the extra weight that the Sport lugs around. That thing hauls... The SHO seems to have a slight lag in shifts 2-3 and 4-5 in “D”. There is none of that with the Sport in “D”. I’ve been afraid to try the Sport in “S” because it might blow my mind.
