I see that a lot of you are using the FL-1A filter insted of the regular one. I understand that it provides an increase in oil capacity but are there any reasons not to use it?

While you are down there, take a look at the oil cooler to block gasket. You can do this with your 30mm hub socket (assuming you have one...I didn't until last summer). Chances are that gasket is toast and leaking oil on your starter. You can use your old oil filter gasket as a replacement.
Edit: I guess I just added that to my list of crap to do this spring too....ARG!
