I have some small bulbs illuminating my FISH TANKS. There cool, but useless. They don't put out enough light to be effective, but they are cool. Well, I decided to make a change in my fish tanks and I am using LEDs instead. They actually serve a purpose now. I can use them for daytime running lights or as fog lights. I wrote a detailed page for how to do it.

Are they blinding to oncoming traffic? Do they really have a useful fog light beam pattern?

i had thought a while ago about stuffing an h3 or something of similar size in there but i feel bad drilling through my only set of fish tanks :(
I think a H3 bulb will melt the plastic housing

Hey, Al! These are sweet!

If the LEDs really drop 3.2V each this thing is only drawing 11mA! Very nice and very efficient.

LEDs rock for vehicular lighting...

yeah, i agree with you. which is also one of the reasons why i decided against it. i think im going to end up just shoving the usual yellow bulbs in there, just waiting on my new headlight housings :D

Doh! That's per branch, so 33mA per side. Still very low current.

In contrast a 5W bulb draws 416mA, more than 10x the LEDs, and I'm betting the LEDs are much brighter.

Wow, I personally was either thinking of doing that or putting strobes in there..
you can make the LED's be strobe lights buy making the strobe module using a 555 dip.
