Last night my son and I finshed installing the new rebuilt tranny in his 96' SHO. What was hoped to be a bad TC turned into a $2K rebuild. The builder also installed the Trans-Go shift kit an all available upgrades. We also installed a new transmission cooler bypassing the factory cooler.

Took the SHO out for a drive and it shifts fast and smooth. After not driving the car for awhile its so good to hear that V8 roar!

While it was apart we replaced all suspension wear items, brakes, o2 sensors, and the car drives so good. I just may have to borrow my son's car.

I like to see some video footage WOT rpm gauge with the newly isntalled tranny. Just for Comparison....:)

I don't think I every really seen a stock transmission vs shift kit transmission.

Amazing how your appreciation, love, etc... grows after your SHO has sat (with an issue) some greater than others. When mine sat it was depressing, I was having so much fun driving it before I parked it for a trans issue. Now its up and running just fine!! I think my cowl hood is taking longer than the trans rebuild!
Congrats !!!! One less SHO on craigslist with a blown trans for sale:swing:

Congratulations!! It is nice to get behind the wheel of your car after you haven't driven it for a while. Hope this wasn't too long of a repair

The SHO is actually my son's first car. It was a father/son project and we took our time. I wanted to teach him some skills and have him understand how cars work. I think he will have a better apprceation of his car and will take better care of it.

Some asked about video footage WOT rpm, the shift-kit does not change the shift points but improves the shift quality and Corrects, prevents or reduces soft shifts, planetary failure, high line pressure, seal failure, neutrals at stop, falls out of 4th gear. Includes forward clutch valve, boost valve and electronic pressure control relief valve.

Congrats, I hope to have mine rebuilt soon. It is depressing to see it just sitting in the parking lot where I live. I can drive it around town a bit but not too far.
