I attempted to take out my stock y-pipe and ended up breaking one of the exhaust studs on the front bank. I took it to Cole Muffler and they replaced the stud and put on my new y-pipe. He charged me nothing because he said that he didn't want to deal with the paperwork that is had when you install the cats. My problem is now I have an exhaust leak on the front bank. I went underneath the car and made sure all the bolts are tightened to 30lb-ft of torque. This checked out. Then I let the car run for a little bit and came up with the same result. The bolts were very tight. Is it possible that he tightened the rear bank too much before doing the front or something else?

Sometimes those flanges don't seat properly the first time you hook them up. Best bet might be to loosen the leaking pipe, pull it down a bit and try again.

That is not a bad idea and I will do that. Should I worry about the studs breaking if I don't have a torch. I'm thinking that they should be good to go since the bolts were recenty taken off but I also don't want to take a chance.

You should be fine for just that reason, the nuts were recently removed. Also, the muffler guy hopefully used some antiseize on there. Regardless of whether he used antiseize or not be sure that you use some on the studs. Probably want to use a glove, that stuff is messy. It'll stink when you start up the car as the excess antiseize burns off so don't be alarmed.
