Hey guys, I just got my wideband hooked up. I grounded it to the battery and am using a power wire for my aftermarket water-temp gauge as it's power source. This video was taken with the car at idle already warmed up. It seems to be jumping all over the place at Idle. I have not driven the car yet as I still need to clean up the install. Does it smooth out when the car is under Load?

Here's how it looks at idle...

My AEM does that as well in the Miata. May be from where it's mounted in the exhaust. I know when I had it mounted in the sho it was fairly steady. Had it mounted about 10" behind the ypipe in the catback. It mounted alittle farther downstream on the Miata though. Sensor was replaced about 8 months ago too, with the vw equivalent.

Looks like you might need some tuning. With the stock tune from ShoNut, my afr at idle was 16. After tuning I got it to stay around 14.6, then when I put in the 42lb injectors and tuned for them it jumps around alot. I cant fix it tho because my laptop broke.

Hopefully it's a tuning issue. I've tried a few different places for a ground as well as power output's with no difference.

I never seen one that doesn't jump around on a SHO. Normally 14-15 range. Yours seems to be going farther than usual but did you have your battery unhooked? If you did it will take the car a little while to learn the fuel trims and to steady out.

did you do a calibration on install? widebands are required to be calibrated to open air before use.. i doubt this is the case but may have a factor...

my money is on tune tho

It'll really never be rock solid at CL, you're working with NBO2's for ECU calibration. It does look like you could clean it up with tuning, but other factors can play a roll as well. It's not horrible, but it jumps around a little more than my car. With the MAF location I have, it gets tricky.

It will as it's not using NBO2 feedback when you're WOT. WOT tuning is very easy, big money makes the car driveable the rest of the time.

Oh thats not bad, you should see my GTX's wideband... but thats because a wire is broke for my throttle position sensor, so its just taking a shot in the dark where I'm at on throttle percentage, I try not to look at the AFR, it just scares me... but its getting parked for winter:p

It's all in the tune and the speed of your WBO2. With the MAF placement before the blower on my car, I could it very steady.

A WBO2 with a slower processor will make just about anything look steady (or averaged).
