Hi, I was wondering if there is a vin number on the engine of the SHO itself, and where it's located at. I have a 1995 SHO ATX, and after pulling it I'm having rising suspicion that it might not be the original motor. [May even be a 3.0 bolted to a ATX Tranny]

Any help is appreciated!

The engines don't have a matching VIN number that I know of.

How does your coil pack sit? Does it sit level, or is it canted forward towards the radiator?

The only real way to tell the difference between a 3.0 and a 3.2 is to look at the ribs on the outside of the engine block. The 3.2 has more of them.

It sits more tilted towards the front.

Well since I don't have a 3.0 to compare too, :p, is there a way to get an exact number to count?

Thanks for the replys!

Here is the underside of a 3.0:

If there are more ribs around the freeze plug areas it's a 3.2.

There are numbers on the underside of the block next to the oil return hole that I am guessing show the displacement. Have a 3.2L block on an engine stand and it has 3322 stamped on in.

well then, you will know for certain as soon as you pull off the first head and can measure the piston diameter!
