Engine stalled

I was driving somewhat spiritedly, and after i shifted to second when I got back on the gas it sputtered and backfired a lot then died. The engine turns over, but just sputters and hiccups. What could the problem be? I know I need to new power relay module or whatever.

I not with the car right now so I cant look at it, but could it be the fuel pump relay in the trunk?

When it turns over, it sounds like the pistons are rubbing metal to metal with the cylinder walls sometimes, but the car has oil.

Sorry I missed this post before. So what ended up being the problem?

What was the problem?
1. bad fuel pump
2. bad ccrm box
3. timing belt jumped
4. dis module not grounded properly

I was getting too much fuel at WOT. My engine flooded, and after constant cranking, the excess fuel burned off and it finally started.

I just replaced the CPS twice. I really don't think it is but hey its worth a try.

You can test the voltage to see if the CPS is shot or not...

CPS is fine. I just explained everything to craig about whats wrong with it... I figured everything out.
