Hey guys,
I have recently bought a 90' SHO Mtx and had overheating problems with it right away. I flushed the system a couple times to figure out the problem. I found that the radiator was shot so I replaced that along with a thermostat and radiator cap. After all of that was changed it ran normally at the diagnal line right above C for few weeks now.. Heat works great, nice and hot. As I've noticed this week it now goes up to the "R" in normal. It will do this only at stops and doesn't get any higher because the fan kicks in for like only 7 seconds, it cools barely, and goes back and repeats over exactly. When driving it however, it runs about half way between "R" and the Bottom line like it had before. I also noticed that now when I check the engine when hot it seems to be much hotter at touch on intake, and the front head can't be touched. I'm worried about heads getting too hot.. Is this normal, or was my engine running at the right temperature before? It's almost like the fan wont kick on soon enough, because it never had to come on at all before this week. I liked it that way!!
I should probably get another temp. guage to be sure, but I have my feeling that it's too hot. Anyone have any idea on what else could possibly be wrong or how to check? shrug
