Is there a way to remove the engine through the top other than dropping it out through the bottom? Was always curious if anyone has done it yet? Removed it through the bottom every other time just wondering if anyone else has ever attempted it?

That's what I have always done and heard of as well. Lol my only puzzler is how to get to the rear bell housing bolts while it is still in the car. Lmao what a pain that would be.

I wanna say Carter took an engine out the top just to see if one could do it.

Out the bottom is the way. Probably done 20 - 25 this way in my driveway with hand tools. Never tried one out the top but I might have to now just to say I tried.

I would try it out the top. Don't have to much time on my hands tho at the moment. I mean I have done the duratec 3.0 the Vulcan Ohv 3.0, 2.5 duratec but this 3.4 v8 not sure of. Like I say it would have to be plausible due to a trans shop doesn't drop the whole engine to r&r the tranny so I think it would be plausible. I don't have a lift at my new house YET. LOL. But I have a goose neck tri axle trailer I'm gonna drag it up on with the front hanging of the tail and use our loader to lower the beast out thru the bottom b4 the snow flies here. But if I ever had to take it out I would like to know if it has been done b4. Lmao. E1 you gotta let me know when u try it tho lmao.

I mean I would just pull the timing cover and heads while.in the car but even that looks like a chore. I have egg shaped the crank outta round by .08" so it's done and needs turned. But to get the damn crank out to get it turned along with the 8 rods lol. Removal looks like the main way.

People have taken the gen 1 and 2 engines out the top. It is not less work than out the bottom.

Not mainly considered about the amount of work, mainly the safest way without a lift. Don't like the use a of floor jack lowering the craddle assembly. Would rather either lift the engine out by itself due to not having a lift. Or lifting the car over the top of the cradle assembly or lowering the assembly out of it. Mainly if I had a lift like I did at my last residence I wouldn't be curious or questioning about this particular scenario yanno. Lol.

Bottom all day long on a gen 3. Furniture dollies, jacks, and jackstands. I'm not even sure the thing would come out of the top.

That's why I was always curious if it could or ever has came out of the top. The rear head is just to wide and looks like it would hit the fire wall
