Okay, on the subject of bypass filters, is there anywhere I Can pickup/site I can order a kit from? I'd like to get the two-roll unit, but I wouldn't know where to start to bolt that bugger up.

Any help would be great.. It would be even better if I don't have to drill my block.. ;):thankyou::swing:

If you use the AMSOIL kit that uses a block for the regular filter and bypass, replace the lines with somethng much, MUCH larger.

In Texas the DPS (Texas Highway Patrol) does 25K oil Changes on Amsoil. I have a customer coming up on his forth oil change at 400k. "By-pass Filter".

I understand extended OCI's, but 100k per oil change is just a little longer than I would push it... Just a little. Even a perfect motor would burn through a full fill several times over by 100k.

I used one of those old tp filters around 1970, I believe by-pass systems that Amsoil has are a lot better. Plus you can go with one filter or two filters and different length filters depending on how much room you have.

The center and right block are the same (these are what I am talking about as they also feed the full-flow filter).

100K is easy, A S-10 did 340K without an oil change. The S-10 was still running fine at that mileage. A 18 wheeler did 409K on one oil change and was doing oil analyzes the whole time. When you use a by-pass system you increase the amount of oil in the system and that helps also. My Buick went from 5 qt to 7 qt.

I know all about bypass systems.... I used to run one in conjuntion with an Accusump. I just run an oil cooler now. I'd have to see better documentation for that type of mileage on one oil change. Oil shears and breaks down... Cleaning/filtering the oil does nothing for that.

BTW, why did you edit my post?

I didn't know I did. If I did it was an accident, sorry. On the shearing and breaking down part Amsoil's a whole new ball game.

AMSOIL isn't magic oil. I've used AMSOIL as well... I wouldn't push it much further than something like Rotella T in any given setup.

Insert pitchman thread for AMSOIL

Amsoil has all that stuff figured out in a kit. Call that guy Bannonjr and he will fix you up.

Would you like me to take a picture comparing the AMSOIL lines to my current -12 lines? The lines they provide are far inadequate. BTDT.

I would like to see...

I've never run into a problem with the lines being to small...why do you say this? Did you have trouble with pressure? Or....?

1/4" will be fine if you're not running it to the full-flow filter as well. I personally wouldn't tap off a pressure line and would only run it from the sump with an extra pump.

Amsoil has resently redesigned the by-pass systems with larger lines. My buick has a older system that been on there for about 11 years. My oil presure stays between 35 psi when warm to 45 when cold, on the highway it sets at 40 and thats a 41 year old engine. I run the two filter system.

The Bmk13 is dual remote job with an adapter that goes where the old flow Thur filter went. I've installed a lot of these. that same style is on Power stroke 7.3 thats coming up on 400K (376). This guy sell and installs carpet and tile and hauls huge loads on his goose neck around West Texas.
